About A1 Asphalt Knoxville

An East Tennessee paving contractor that builds for the climate — UV in summer, freeze-thaw in winter, clay base year-round.

A1 Asphalt Knoxville Work Truck

Knoxville Asphalt, Built the Right Way

A1 Asphalt Knoxville is a locally owned paving contractor working across Knox, Blount, Anderson, and Sevier Counties. We started this company because East Tennessee asphalt sits at a tough intersection — humid summers with surface temps cooking the binder, winters that freeze every year and tear open any crack water gets into, and a clay-heavy ridge-and-valley terrain that moves under poorly drained pavement. Most of the failing driveways and lots we get called to look at weren't built badly on day one. They were built without a plan for what this climate would do over twenty years.

Our work runs both sides of the market. On the residential side, we pave and resurface driveways across Sequoyah Hills, Bearden, Fountain City, and the new-build corridors out toward Farragut and Hardin Valley — long driveways on slopes, original mid-century surfaces ready for overlay, and crack-and-seal programs that keep good driveways from going bad. On the commercial side, we handle parking lots along Kingston Pike, Turkey Creek, the church market across the metro, the UT campus area, downtown, and the Fort Sanders medical district.

What we don't do is sell what isn't needed. If your driveway has another five years in it with a crack-fill and a sealcoat, that's the quote you get. If full removal is the only honest answer, we say so. Every estimate is written, every scope is itemized, and every new install ships with a maintenance plan you can hold us to. Direct contractor voice, fair pricing, and the work done right the first time.

What We Stand On

01

Honest Assessments

If a sealcoat or a patch is the right call, we say so. If your driveway needs to come out, we say that too. The quote is what the surface actually needs.

02

Engineering Discipline

Base prep, drainage, mix temperature, compaction passes — none of it is optional. We work the way pavement engineering says you have to work in this climate.

03

Local Accountability

Knoxville-owned and Knoxville-based. If something needs to be looked at a year from now, we're still here, still answering the phone, still standing behind the work.

04

Written Everything

Written scope, written price, written maintenance plan. No verbal handshakes, no driveway-special pricing scrawled on a business card. You hold the paperwork.

What Our Clients Say

Our driveway off Kingston Pike had hairline cracks running everywhere after last winter's freeze. They routed and hot-poured every one of them, then put a fresh sealcoat down before fall. Made it through this winter clean — no widening, no new potholes.

Needed the church parking lot off Broadway resurfaced and restriped before our fall festival. Crew milled the worst sections, laid a clean overlay, and had ADA spaces measured to code. Members noticed the day they pulled in — lines crisp, no more ankle-twisting cracks.

Our shop lot off Campbell Station Road had a pothole near the bay doors that kept opening back up every spring thaw. They saw-cut it square, rebuilt the base where water was undermining it, and patched flush. Two winters now and it's still holding tight.

Long driveway up off Cherokee Boulevard had been graying and raveling for years. They prepped the base where runoff was cutting under the asphalt at the bottom of the slope, repaved the whole run, and sealed it the right way. Looks better than the day we bought the house.
